Developing Sustainable Production Support Systems with Quam-Nichols Company

Quam-Nichols Company, a manufacturer of loudspeaker technologies, sponsored a process improvement project aimed at delivering alternative approaches to managing its customer’s quality expectations. As an undergraduate student at the Illinois Institute of Technology I was part of the interdisciplinary team tasked with the challenge to address their manufacturing process for black powder coating and tile housing unit fabrication. Our team became familiar with their respective manufacturing processes through scholarly research, on-site data collection, on-site experimentation, and professional industry networking.  The information gathered throughout the project term was used to make final recommendations aimed to improve the tile housing unit manufacturing process and to address inconsistencies with the quality of the black powder coating operation.
